Red Lion Inn and Suites Pontoon Beach/St. Louis

The hotel room was nice and simple, which is what I want when I travel for business alone. The staff was great and helpful. I needed something clean and inexpensive with a good location, and that's what I got.

I was really surprised at how nice this place was. It’s very clean, I stayed in room 201 and it was perfect for me. It smells clean as soon as you walk in the door. I’m not high maintenance and really just needed a place to stay for a few days as I was taking a Conceal Carry Class. The employees here are very sweet. My room was clean, and just what I needed. I did bring my own pillow just because that’s what I do lol. There were plenty of towels and there was nice bottles of shampoo, body wash and conditioner in the shower. The breakfast was very clean and organized. Both mornings had scrambled eggs, link sausage and potatoes, oatmeal, toast, cereal, juices. There’s also some pretty good vending machines. Is it like a high end hotel? No but it was just perfect for me for the price. There’s also a Burger King very close and a truck stop w dennys across the street aways. And a few other restaurants etc right down the road. I would most definitely stay here again!

Don't know why people are complaining about. This hotel is not a 5 star rating like some high end hotels but the rooms are clean bathroom is very well set up. The bed is at the right level to get into. 2 pillows that are kinda small but adequate to the size of the bed. Blankets are kinda thin, tv, fridge , microwave and standard hotel dresser table. Coffee and breakfast is basic, im not complaining for price of the room. Ive spent some nights at 1 or 2 star hotels, this one definitely gets a 5 start from me for the price you get what you pay for. Not luxury but comfort. Staff is very friendly and very helpful. They do charge for pets but its on $10 I highly recommend this hotel for truckers. Nice laege lot for otr drivers to park trucks and trailers without having to dodge 4 wheelers.

It was a good hotel. The room was adequate and comfortable. Front door requires a key. The stairwell requires a key. So it seems pretty secure. The breakfast area has only one long table to dine at but the breakfast was your typical sausage, eggs, potatoes, juice, cereals, and yogurt. It's a decent place to stay and was a value when we booked.

We read a lot of mixed reviews. Some said bag, bugs, some said it was fine but we were looking something for the price in front of the price we paid for our room.It was well worth it just to have in place to stay for a night.. Sai and Rah and the other lady at the front desk we're extremely accommodating and even got us a better rate than the normal cost when we needed a place to stay. Thank you I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for a comfortable place to stay

I needed someplace cheap to stay for one night while in town for a skating event. This hotel was only 7 minutes away from one rink and less than 30 minutes from the other one. So once I arrived in town I went straight to a skate workshop. I called around 1pm to see if it was possible for me to check in. I wasn't too sure when checkin was, but I know most hotels say after 3 or 4pm. I called and the clerk told me the laundry machines were not working so they were behind getting rooms ready. The clerk was partially talking to me and talking to someone else while on the phone with me, which made me confused if he was talking to me or someone else. He told me to call back in 10 minutes to see if he can find a clean room. Something told me to just go there in person, which took me 26 minutes from where I was so I figured that would suffice. I talked to the clerk who I was on the phone with. He went to check on a room to see if it was clean. He came back and said there was one. He also apologized for the delay due to the laundry issue, which I don't hold against him. That was out of his hands. I was checked in and paid my $50 deposit. Also keep in mind when I arrived, it was raining really hard and continued to rain the whole day and night. I opened the door to my room and right away saw a little puddle of water on the floor from a leak on the ceiling (my room was on the 2nd floor). I thought he said he checked if my room was clean, how did he not see that puddle right in front of him. I went back to the desk and told the clerk. He came back to my room and confirmed what I said, and I saw him squinting and moving closer to see what I saw. He informed his manager who saw (after squinting and getting a closer look) and brought a towel and bucket. I wear glasses but I'm not blind, I saw that puddle before even entering the room. Anyways, while they did that I checked everything else in the room. The TV worked, the heat/ac worked and was easily adjustable (I hate being cold), fridge worked, and everything in the bathroom was in working condition.They asked if I wanted to switch rooms due to the leak. It was in the middle of the room but was not in my way so I decided to stay where I was. With the laundry fiasco I figured getting a new room would have been stressful. There were a couple of small stains on the pillow covers that I spotted when I checked the back of the pillows facing the heads of the beds. They were white pillow covers so I understand not every stain will be washed out when doing laundry. Breakfast was okay, but I've had better. The eggs had that weird fake egg texture and the tots were not fresh. I should've just skipped breakfast like I usually do, it wasnt really worth it. Checking out was easy and he states I will get my deposit back within 3-5 business days. I didn't see the reviews about people's deposits not being returned so I am concerned, but I will give an update on that if I get mines in a timely fashion or not. Look, you get what you pay for. This was a cheap stay. Had I been in town for longer, I would have chosen to stay somewhere else but for one night, this hotel served its purpose. I slept comfortably. The walls are thin, but I can sleep through anything and I was tired from skating for hours so I slept through any noise made. If you need a place for 1-2 nights then this place isn't that bad. If you need a place for longer and the kind of free breakfast offered matters to you, then it may be worth it to pay more to stay someplace else. This place was convenient being next to major highways and gas stations. Also a few restaurants are nearby. I went to a Mexican restaurant right down the road that was really good. I'm not that hard to please and I am a very understanding person, but that being said I will not sugar coat my experience out of empathy. **update** checked out Sun10/19 got my deposit back Tues10/21

I stayed here for a Tattoo Convention weekend and it was some of the best rates. The rooms were completely remodeled. We were concerned about some of the reviews, but once we got settled in, we realized everything was very clean and those could just be reviews from before they remodeled.
